Synopsis

The creator of Boomers, American Rhythm, and Love Makes the World Go ’Round is at it again! Get ready for The Beat Goes On, a Rock and Roll road trip through the last half of the 20th Century with stops in small town malt shops, sunny California beaches, mirror ball disco halls, and MTV studio extravaganzas. This is a high energy and family friendly look at music favorites that reshaped the world. Join us as ACTC presents the professional world premiere of the new and improved version of The Beat Goes On | Suitable for ages 6 and older

bassett-headshotWinter Bassett (Featured Player)  graduated last May from Vanguard University with her BA in musical theatre and is ecstatic to be joining the cast of The Beat Goes On for a third time. Some roles you may have recognized her in during her time at Vanguard are Wednesday Addams (The Addams Family), Featured Player (The Beat Goes On I and II), Dance ensemble (Kiss Me, Kate), Elle Woods (Legally Blonde) and Lucy (Narnia). Credits outside Vanguard include Sandy in Grease (IVRT), Ariel in Footloose (CYT) and Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress (CYT). She is currently signed with Baron Entertainment based in LA and sometimes feel as though she is living out the plot of La La Land. She would like to thank the entire artistic team and crew for their hard work, her supportive family, amazing friends, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing her with this opportunity to perform again.


budds-headshotJustin Budds (Narrator) is very excited to be narrating for The Beat Goes On this summer in his first show with ACTC. His recent credits include Clopin in the Non-Equity Premiere of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” with Great Scott Theatrics, Emmett Forrest in “Legally Blonde”, Officer Lockstock in “Urinetown”, Mitch Mahoney in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” all three with Top Hat 8 Reparatory, Doody in “Grease” with IVRT and Jesus in “Godspell” both with Masquer Ministries and New Vision Theatricals. When not performing on stage, Justin spends his time hosting the characters in Disneyland, writing stories and musicals of his own, and helping his mother with their community theatre company, New Vision Theatricals, in Upland. He would like to thank Vanda and Bretlyn for bringing him on and his beautiful fiancée Madison for supporting, and sometimes managing, him in all of his artistic endeavors.


dominguezJosiah Dominguez (Featured Player) is thrilled to be returning to Beat. He graduated from Vanguard last spring with a degree in Musical Theatre. Besides performing, Josiah has played bass for musicals such as Urinetown (Gem Theatre), Godspell, Fiddler on the Roof, and Pinocchio a Christmas Tale (His Place). He has also choreographed My Son Pinocchio and James and the Giant Peach (Chino Community Theatre) and is an assistant choreographer for The Little Mermaid (MTOC). Josiah is so excited to be sharing the stage with his gorgeous Fiancée and hopes you enjoy the show!  1 John 4:18-19


unnamed-1Ashley Elizabeth (Featured Player) is thrilled to return to The Beat Goes On and her home theater.  Elizabeth is an alumnus of Vanguard University and received her BA in Musical Theatre.  Previous shows include: The Pirates of Penzance (Isabel), Always a Bridesmaid (Kari), Legally Blonde (Serena), Guys and Dolls (Sarah Brown), and her favorite show in the world The Beat Goes On (Featured Soloist). Galatians 2:20


kasparian-headshotAmanda Kasparian (Featured Player) is originally from Highland, Utah. She grew up singing and dancing from the age of 5 years old. Amanda’s love for performing led her to earn a BFA in Music Dance Theatre from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Her recent credits include featured dancer at Legoland California Resort, Zaneeta in The Music Man, Eileen in Wonderful Town, Alana in The Little Mermaid, and Tammy in Hairspray. She currently resides in Costa Mesa with her husband, Jared.


lazaris-headshotNick Lazaris (Featured Player) is honored to be able to return to the Ed & Dixie Arnold stage again with American Coast Theater Company. Previous credits with ACTC include Winter Wonderland Christmas Cabaret, Love Makes the World Go ‘Round, and The Taming of the Shrew. Nick graduated from Vanguard in 2012 with a concentration in Musical Theatre. Since then he’s continued to do in commercial and industrial work in Orange County and LA. Last year he was fortunate enough to be offered the position of Theatre Manager for Vanguard University and ACTC which he feels has been a blessing to give back to the department that gave so much to him. Nick would like to thank Vanda, his amazing wife/choreographer Bretlyn, and the amazing group of interns that work so hard to help put on this fantastic production.


leopold-headshotKristina Leopold (Featured Player) is elated to be performing her 28th production, while getting to work with ACTC on this wonderful show that lives up to its name!  She graduated from VU in 2016 with a Bachelors in both Musical Theatre and English.  Select Credits include: Lucinda/Dance Captain in Into the Woods and Soul Girl in Jesus Christ Superstar (The Lewis Family Playhouse), Saloon Girl in The Addams Family (Center Stage Fontana), Dynamite in Hairspray (The Welk and Tustin’s Broadway in the Park), and a Featured Player in The Beat Goes On rounds 1 and 2 at Vanguard! She would like to thank the production team for allowing her to journey through rock and roll alongside her amazing fiancé, Josiah, once again! Praise to the Name above all Names! Romans 13:12


lindsey-headshotCornelius Lindsey (Featured Player) graduated from the international Culinary Academy at the Art Institute, and now looks forward to attending Vanguard University this fall to pursue his bachelor’s in Musical Theatre. Cornelius grew up in the theatre world when at age 12 he began performing with the theatrical Fern Street Circus and later became artistic director and creator of two of their shows. Cornelius thanks his Mom for her unconditional love and The Lemonade/ Creme Dela Creme for the support. Blessed to be on this new journey God is love.


osimo-headshotGrace Osimo (Narrator)  is honored to have been cast in ACTC’s The Beat Goes On, among such hard-working and talented people. She is so amazed at everything they remember. Most recently, Grace appeared on the Ed and Dixie Arnold stage as Gloria in Open All Night. She is now a Junior at Vanguard concentrating in Musical Theatre, and is so excited to see what God has in store for the future. Grace is a member of VU’s improv team, Popular Demand, and recently voiced the character LEE in Chipotle’s new children’s series Rad Lands, available now on iTunes. Grace would like to give a special thanks to Vanda, Sue, Lia, Nick, and Bretlyn for believing in her to take on this role. She’d also like to thank her supportive family and Jesus Christ. roberts-headshotScott Roberts (Featured Player) is extremely excited to be a part of The Beat Goes On with ACTC. He recently appeared in Jesus Christ Superstar (Ensemble) at the Candlelight Pavilion. Other roles include the original Norwegian production of Åpenbaringen-[The Epiphany] (Olav), The Last Five Years (Jamie), and Twelfth Night: A Galactic Farce (C-3PO’Maria’). He thanks ACTC and cast for all their love and trust given this opportunity, he also thanks his parents Jeff and Sandie Roberts, his friends and his girlfriend Heather for their love and support.


schmitt-headshotBretlyn Schmitt (Featured Player/Choreographer) is a graduate of Vanguard receiving her degree in Theatre with a concentration in Performance and Directing. Favorite past credits on the Ed and Dixie Arnold stage include; Bianca in Kiss Me, Kate, Myrrah in Metamorphoses, Penny in Hairspray, Pilar in Legally Blonde, and Gladys in The Pajama Game.  She is an alumnus of The Open Jar Institute in New York City and recently received the 2015 Woman of the Year in Theatre award from the LA Times’ Huntington Beach Independent for her original choreography in The Beat Goes On, and portrayal of Bianca in Kiss me Kate. Bretlyn currently choreographs for multiple theaters and schools in Orange County, and couldn’t feel more blessed to be back working on this amazing show.


schultze-headshotRyan Schultze (Featured Player) is thrilled to be making his debut with American Coast Theater Company! He is a CA native who has trained both regionally and in NY. His recent/favorite credits include Snoopy in A Charlie Brown Xmas (Legendary Productions), Sweet Charity (Welk Resort Theatre), Legally Blonde (The Grove Theatre), Disney’s Little Mermaid (Cabrillo Music Theatre) and Funny Girl (IVRT). Other roles have included Lumiere (Beauty and the Beast), Pinocchio (Shrek the Musical) and Audrey II (Little Shop of Horrors). When Ryan is not on stage performing he is behind the scenes Directing, Choreographing and Light Designing. Ryan has Directed/Choreographed/Designed over 30 musical productions for The Youth Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles and was an Alumni Choreographer for Moorpark College. Ryan is also a core Dancer with Megill & Company, a theatrical dance company. Ryan would like to thank his parents for all their love and support!
